Lady Gaga and the arty party

Posted Nov 16, 2009

In the throes of the recession, partying like it was 1999 is considered rather naff - when art is involved however it cleverly becomes culture and therefore an excuse to party like a delinquent. Lat night's celebration at L.A's Museum of Contemporary Art to celebrate its 30th anniversary pulled out all the stops including a performance by Lady Gaga and A-listers such as Brangelina.

Celebrating the museum's thirty years, the museum opened its doors to the opening of an exhibtion showcasing 500 years by a staggering 200 artists. Honorary chairs Larry Gagosian and Editor of Pop Magazine, Dasha Zhukova invited Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli to create a performance piece to celebrate the exhibition's opening night.

Lady Gaga's performance with the Bolshoi Ballet was followed by an after-party for guests including Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell.

Some artists might see this as a nightmare, but for me it’s like a surreal dream, and in true surreal style I wanted to mix together the youngest and most daring pop icon, Lady Gaga, with the oldest and most classically trained group of dancers in the world, the Bolshoi Ballet.
