Fashion Film Network

Posted Jul 22, 2011

The Fashion Film Network is a blog dedicated to the promotion of the fashion film art movement worldwide. It compiles a weekly top 10 list of Fashion Films for the lovers of this industry. They consider adverts, music video, fashion video, film and other forms of moving image when compiling their top 10. Let’s take a look…

On their Facebook page they have a section called ‘Don’t Do It!’, which comments of the lack of views and attention that films by fashion brands receive followed by a list of ‘Don’ts’. The aim of FFN is to gain the interest of the wider public and to get the efforts of those involved the appreciation deserved.

This week's Top 10 Fashion Films includes music video, a fashion house lookbook, sports brand, campaigns and fashion adverts.

Kicking off the list is Dolce&Gabbana’s trailer starring familiar faces from the fashion world, going head to head in the battle of the year in ‘Masculine vs. Feminine’, which can be viewed above. The cinematic tension created in the fashion film leaves those who watch it begging for more.

In 9th place is a film for True Religions Fall campaign, revealing a sense of country bliss and getting back to basics.

In 6th and 5th place Emporio Armani and Adidas introduce faces from Hollywood being used in different ways, promotionally speaking. Megan Fox’s black and white shots sell the label and its products through sheer sex appeal, whilst Adidas mixes sport stars, musicians and the adoring public to show that the label is accessible to all of us.

A video lookbook by Wildfox Couture is in 4th place:

And 3rd place is held by a video directed and produced by the same people who created a fashion film for this year’s Venice Biennale starring Lindsay Lohan. This film stars Sasha Grey and involves some breathtaking cinematography and focuses on the transformation from her current cinematic acting career from her previous work within the adult film world.

The number one spot is in possession by director Nick Knight and one of the world’s most famous females at the moment, Lady Gaga. It is the music video for Born This Way. Enjoy.
