Adult
Male Phidippus
He loves insects, observes them for hours with his lenses and presses the
“cheese” button of his camera as many times needed to get the perfect pose. Hard
work for sure when you think of the size of his models. To get the “cover shot”
requires patience and
agility.
Face
of a Southern Yellowjacket Queen
Thomas’ weapon or shall we say his third eye is a Pentax K200D. Surprisingly
enough he does not “get” insects to do anything, he leaves them free and follow
their moves in their natural environment unless else is stated under the photo.
Work of art or simple craft and recognizable talent to focus on a tiny subject?
This is for you to decide. The particularity of Thomas’ work and the fact that
he uses Photoshop only to stack his focus with the attention to not modify the
real aspect of the bugs in duty or at rest, underline his search of capturing
instant
reality.
