This week on Swide, I have the pleasure to introduce one of my favourite artists, Ruben Ireland. His works have been present in my mind for quite some time and I love the girls that he illustrates, always so bold and mysterious. Already know his work? Well, read the following interview, as it will give you a new perspective on his art works.
Romantic and mysterious are the words I can come up with when looking at Joshua David McKenney’s works. I have been following his work for some time now and other than illustration, the dolls he creates also fascinate me. Today, it is my pleasure to bring you into Joshua’s glamorous illustration world.
If you live in Milan chances are that you’ve already met Filip Adrian Dziegielewski. Most likely he bumped into you at a party and told you something so honest about yourself, it hurt your feelings (he didn’t mean to). If not, he was sitting by you at Bagel Factory having coffee and silently judging your food. Maybe you just saw him crossing a street dressed like Lil Kim meets Burberry?
I completely fell in love with Maelle Rajoelisolo’s illustrations when I first visited her blog. I find her illustration style to be very playful, yet her characters are beautifully crafted. The most impressive factor is that Maelle uses only colour pencils to create her works and this is very rare for illustrators. Today, I am very honoured to have her on Swide and to let you explore her illustrative world.
Gerardo Larrea is one of the fashion illustrators that I have had on my radar since last year. His illustration style is very whimsical and fun, yet I love how, at the same time, he can illustrate all the details of the outfits. Today let me introduce you to Gerardo Larrea as my first 2012 featured illustrator.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and today I have a special treat for you. I have asked 7 of my illustrator friends a few questions related to this special occasion and, to make this article special, 2 of them have each prepared an original Dolce & Gabbana art work as a Valentine’s gift to the Swide readers.
Happy New Year everyone! By now, I am sure you have already seen the glorious pieces from the Dolce&Gabbana SS12 menswear and womenswear runways and are getting excited about the prospect of the Milan and Paris fashion weeks. Before we do, however, I wanted to invite to look at the illustrative work that reflects of the S/S 2012 collections.
It has been a thrilled ride this year on Swide and I am very fortunate to be able to feature some of the world’s gifted artists every week on Swide. Today, I want to do an end of year wrap up and highlight some of my most memorable features from the last 12 months.
I am very excited to present you Jonathan Bartlett this week on Swide as I think he is a very gifted illustrator. Because of the composition, I always find a mysterious vibe in his works.
It’s almost Halloween time and today I have the second part of my Halloween special for you. I have been a big fan of Natalie Shau’s works for a long time and her works are extremely surreal, dark and there is always a twist with her fairytale image.
