Tips and Easy Luxurious Tricks to be Happy
Like a true anthropologist doing a field research - a reminder of our Science classes at University going around campus with a notepad and pen in hand asking everyone the same (statistical) question - we went collecting answers on a subject. The purpose of the study? How to get or feel luxury without having to buy a Billionaire's yacht. The people involved in the study? A selected range of young professionals in mostly creative fields (well we want to get the best ideas won't we?). The result? Well if you haven't been feeling a million bucks lately either copy some luxurious moments from the selected quotes, or open your eyes and say: well I had never thought of my grandma's tortellini as luxury. Well its all in the senses isn't it?
Beth Spitalny (Movie Director)
“Luxury- the first thing that came into my mind is the ocean. It's something I've gotten used to having near me in LA. Now that I'm moving back east, I'm really going to miss it. To me, having the ocean near by means you can escape whenever you want and that, to me is quite a luxury.”
Hilary Belle Walker (Novelist)
“Off the top of my head: luxury is fresh squeezed (squeezed by someone else) ruby red grapefruit juice in a chilled glass, first thing in the morning. luxury is a quiet, clean, comfortable train ride. luxury is a the perfect suitcase, (packed and unpacked by someone else) that has space for everything and is easy to manage and carry (by someone else). luxury is having someone read to you in bed before you fall asleep (at any age). luxury is the kind of coat that is so warm that you can wear only the flimsiest dress on a freezing night.”
Talj Gon (Tango Dancer)
“luxury is eating good warm milk from your mother's breast's.
luxury is being able to embrace and squeeze someone.”
Elisa Motterle (Fashion Journalist)
“to me the top of luxury is: following my father to hand pick fresh veggies in the garden, then have them for lunch, while we drink wine made by his friends and allow ourselves time to chat. It's the chance to have time to spend with loved ones, to cultivate interests, to finally take the trip you've always been dreaming of. Nowadays luxury is space, time and silence.
"Oh, and a positive attitude which is, the hardest-to-get;)”
Eliana Venier (Jewellery Designer @alienina.com)
“"L'Écume des jours" by Boris Vian and taking a stroll in Marseilles market; it’s like taking a trip around the world in just three hours”.
Charlotte Hosmer (Photographer)
“A deep tissue massage from my sister when I go to England, a glass of ice with a touch of Mirto after dinner (really bad for you but so refreshing), real feather pillows in bed, flying with an airline where you don't have to queue up and bundle for your seat with no leg room - even for short flights - actually sitting on the sofa with no tv, no radio, no phone to just read a good book
- Getting the hairdresser to blow-dry my hair straight when I get it cut - even if it's raining outside (I'm paying, so I make them work for it :-) )
Andrea Naar Alba (owner of WED Couture weddings)
“Have someone/husband drive you to work. Find out you have exactly what you are craving for in the fridge”
