Posted Mar 16, 2011

The Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow was launched by Dasha Zhukova* and the International Coordinator Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst.

The Garage Center of Contemporary Art in Moscow

Located in one of Russia ‘s architectural classified construction designed by Konstanin Melnikov, the former Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, the museum offers various exhibitions at the same time and represents an open door to international Contemporary Art. From panel series to lectures or workshops, one can enjoy and appreciate modern creations and previous century’s masterpieces. Now on, are three unmissable exhibitions if you happen to be in Moscow: The Clock featuring works from Christian Marclay, Cuba in Revolution that explores the visual legacy of the Cuban Revolution of 1959 and the Decode: Digital Design Sensations which showcases the latest interactive and digital designs.
These concomitant art shows illustrate perfectly the reason to be of The Garage. It is about fostering exchanges of different views, past and present and encouraging the development of cultural events in Russia and elsewhere. Like a garage that hosts cars belonging to different owners, each visitor has it say, has the opportunity to contribute and to have an input. The rumour has it that the Garage Center will open a sister venue on New Holland Island soon, so let’s see.

Tomorrow The Garage Center will host a Dolce&Gabbana - Martini arty event, read more about it on Swide.com.
