Mailka Favre, famous for her amazing illustrations for the Wallpaper magazine, did a D&G inspired illustration. And SWIDE is proud to share an exclusive interview with you...

Q1. Can you describe yourself in 3 sentences?
I am an illustrator based in London. I love curves and bold colors and I try to pare down the world around me, strip things back to their essence.I love London, NY and Paris.
Q2. What’s illustration for you?
Something I have been doing since I was a child. A necessity, almost a compulsion.


Q3. What’s the work you are most proud of up to now?
I guess the Wallpaper alphabet is one of my favorite project. It came together very organically and was very pleasing to draw.
Q4. What’s your biggest dream in terms of career?
I guess the big picture would be to be drawing for the rest of my life, keep evolving as an artist and make a good living of what I love to do.

Q5. What’s your daily routine like?
Coffee and cigarette for breakfast, cycling to work, yet another coffee, work until midday for a light lunch, more work until 7 and off to meet my friends for a drink at the local pub or for an exhibition, or straight home if I feel like a good movie. In bed by 2 most days. later if I am working on personnal projects.
Q6. What are your inspirations?
I take most of my inspiration from people that surround me and things I see on a daily basis, a bit of everything really.


Q7. Your motto for life?
On most occasions, less is more.
Q8. Given that you’ve created a very sexy alphabet, what’s the sexiest word in your vocabulary? The sweetest word? And the word with the most impact?
Intime, caresse, jamais. those would have to be french.

Q9. What’s your plan for Christmas holidays?
Going home to Paris to spend christmas with family and friends. I haven't been back in a while so I have really been looking forward to the cheese and wine this year.
Q10. Your resolutions for new year?
Smoke less, work less, travel more and to warmer places.
