Swinging Design with Elio Fiorucci
From
1967 to now, Elio has showed a great imagination and continuous passion in his
work. Fashion designer, he is, but not a standard one. He belongs to the tribe
of the ones that dare and inspire generations to come. He has definitely shaped
the way we consider Italian Design through contemporary History and has achieved
to blend some witty London references with Italian tailoring… And to end up with
customized American classics: jeans and Tees. Of course a Fiorucci T-shirt is
like no other and has this cartoonish graffiti appeal that celebrates
street style. The good news is whatever the fashion upper class dictates as
being trendy, a jean and its tee are always included in the package. Streets are
crowded so is our closet full of basics. But how many Fiorucci do you have? You
cannot get enough of this name in your wardrobe. It is playful, joyful and
illustrates perfectly its founder always up to new discoveries. Are you ready to
stay or to get on
board?
If the eighties was Fioruccis’ golden decade with store openings in main cities
and a logo that was known and showed by the young generation of that time, think
Madonna as a related icon and Studio54 for the spirit, the Italian brand had a
hard time during the nineties but managed to survive and sprayed a cool scent on
us in 2001 with the launch of its first fragrance. Since 2003, Mr.Fiorucci has
been climbing up the hill alone after closing the doors of his historic shop in
Milan on Corso Victor Emmanuele. If he has left the fashion business, he still
plays with his sense of creativity through collaborations with fashion brands
such as Agent
Provocateur.
