Eccentric yet Beautiful

Emede’s somewhat post-modern take on fashion is palpable in the video. His use of sounds mixed with music creates an eerie yet realistic context. The hustle and bustle of the backstage area are juxtaposed to the quietness of the post production times- the backstage goes from a hot bed of activity to a ghost town from one scene to the next. At the same time, Emede is able to capture the essence of what is happening, both from the view point of a filmmaker, therefore a spectator and commentator of real life and from the view point of the protagonists- Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, as well as the supporting actors- the models, and the walk-ons- the dressers, manicurists and engineers.
The eccentricity of the clothes, the F/W 11 collection (which is available in boutiques now) was based on eccentric tailoring in fact, and the eccentricity of the director’s style are a perfect match, making this a beautiful, sensitive and balanced short.
