The human condition

Posted Jan 20, 2009

Is this world too big for human beings? Have humans built a world too complicated for themselves? It's Tuesday and we say yes to all of the above.

As a "tiny" introduction to Francesco De Molfetta's work, try imagining microscopic people who opt to spend their time changing those small details that make a big difference.

One of our fave artblogs, Who Killed Bambi has already picked up on Francesco's work and featured two pieces that are must-sees for anyone with a curious/ironic sense of humour. Click here to see the first image of first a wedding cake featuring two of his mini-sculptures of a traditional bride and groom. Look closely however and you'll see another figure drowning in the sickly icing.

The second featured work is a man tight-rope walking over a crocodile. Cruel - but imagine it's your boss. So much more entertaining. Power to the little people.

Francesco is a young Italian artist: painter and sculptor, who also produces short movies and, in his spare time is a theatre director. Jealous? Us?
