The hippest homes for books

Posted Feb 6, 2009

As the Daily Beast highlights - the world's top architects are reinveinting the library. We take a look at their hippest homes for books.

Amongst the libraries selected for the Daily Beast's top book spots - is the "bookbus" from Swedish company Muungano.

This Swedish ´Library bus of the year´ - offers not only books but a digital media space, a small cinema, computer games, a music listening couch, internet station and personal service (we're intrigued byt this, it being Sweden and all).

As staying in is the new going out - we think this bookbus could start a new trend, if only when you consider how luxurious it would be to have it pass every evening as an alternative to bad T.V. Literacy levels would rise, bohemia would return again and we'd talk about something other than big brother every morning. Until then we're on Facebook obviously...

For more on the reinvention of the library check out the Daily Beast's article at www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories.
