Sonia Rykiel reveals women's real colours

Posted May 19, 2010

The Saint-Germain-des-Prés gallery Catherine Houard is pleased to showcase for the first time more than 200 artworks by Sonia Rykiel.

On the occasion of the designer’s 40th Birthday, 30 world-renowned designers have paid tribute to an artist who has exercised her talent far beyond the one and only fashion world. Awarded, Mrs Rykiel has written 9 books, signed many collaborations and stamped various prestigious places. French but not only, Parisian for sure but really from Saint-Germain-des-Prés, she is free and politically committed. Her blazing red hair and her colourful stripes on her signature knitwear is the first things that pop in mind when mentioning her name. She sings, writes and draws, she is definitely a fashionable intellectual. She has inspired artists such as Andy Warhol or film director Robert Altman.
