Paintings that replace therapy

Posted Dec 31, 2008

Self-help books are destined for the bin as Wang Ke's work help you to appreciate yourself a little more

Athough Wang Ke's paintings may cost the same per hour as therapy - as she explains in her own words, “it seems like everyday I have to paint myself...my paintings make sure I like myself better.” Her paintings are also definitely better looking than our therapist.

According to her gallery, Wang Ke "exemplifies the self-obsessed, quirky and, ultimately, brilliant single children that this (China's notorious one child policy) has produced". As a recent graduate from the China Academy of Fine Art in Hangzhou, and one of the most promising young voices to emerge from the academy, the facts back it up.

Post - cultural revolution/therapy, check out D&G's new recenty opened boutique, and the first D&G store to open in China. The boutique is housed in the luxury Yintai Center - a new landmark of the city and home to the new Park Hyatt hotel.
