New cult film: Tokyo!

Posted Apr 3, 2009

Three of world cinema’s great visionaries: Michel Gondry, Leos Carax, and Bong Joon-ho each direct a segment of this surreal triptych set in the ultra-modern metropolis of Tokyo, Japan.

In the mode of other great city based films such as New York stories, Night on Earth, and Paris Je T'aime, the film, "Tokyo!" addresses the age old question of whether we shape the face of cities or whether they shape us.

The film that was awarded "Un Certain Regard" from the Cannes official selection last year is a triptych, rhapsody, psychogeography, omnibus, urban valentine, freak show, mindwalk amongst other things - a fantasy in three movements that will ensure you see one of the world’s greatest cities — if not any city — in unpredictable new ways.

Each director - Michel Gondry (BE KIND REWIND, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND), Leos Carax (THE LOVERS ON THE BRIDGE), and Bong Joon-ho (THE HOST) direct a segment of this surreal film currently showing in the U.S and soon to hit Europe.
