New York, I Love You: Cities of Love

New York, I Love You is an ode to the romantic, sometimes wildly crazy and other times quietly charming city, a retired opera singer, played by the stunning Julie Christie, checks into an Upper East Side hotel room. Shekhar Kapur directs this particular film with a script written by the late Anthony Minghella (The English Patient). Minghella was supposed to direct this segment of New York, I Love You, but when he suddenly became ill last year, he decided to pass on the project to his friend Kapur.
The 12 short films celebrate the energy of the city, boasting a number of heartwarming stories directed by amongst others Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand), and Natalie Portman (in her directorial debut). Avoiding the obvious names associated with New York - Spike Lee, Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese the result is a series of unique perspectives on New York.

The Cities of Love (follow on Twitter at twitter.com/CitiesofLove) series so far consists of 2 completed films, 35 world directors, 60 performers some of whom include for this latest New York series Bradley Cooper, Hayden Christensen, Andy Garcia, Rachel Bilson, Natalie Portman, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Ethan Hawke, Julie Christie, John Hurt, Shia LaBeouf, and Robin Wright Penn.
New York Moment - Ethan Hawke pops out for a cigarette, meets a woman and tell her she's married to the wrong man.
Directed by Shunji Iwai this clip features Orlando Bloom and Christina Ricci. If you ever live din new York and moved from apartment to apartment you'll understand Orlando's pain.

“Italiana”: An Italian style comedy by Luca Finotti
The Matt Silk Collection for SS12 is cool, pretty and perfectly in tune with this season’s main trend: Fifties. Luca Finotti, an up and coming Italian director was charged with creating a video to contextualize the inspiration behind the glasses. Drawing from by the classic Italian Fifties comedies, the video tells a story of ironic jealousy between mother and daughter. Think classic car, Bianca Balti, vintage music, Italian scenery. The story for the video was created by Swide, styled by Yuri Ahn and directed by Luca Finotti. A Fifties day out for a contemporary woman.
