New Francis Ford Coppola film: Tetro

Posted Aug 24, 2009

Francis Ford Coppola's new film Tetro starring Vincent Gallo is out now on limited release 2009. The Argentina-set family drama is distributed through Ford's own Zoetrope studio. Swide takes a peek at the behind the scenes filming.

The self-financed production Tetro stars Vincent Gallo as an exiled writer who's visited in Buenos Aires by his estranged younger brother. Tetro is Francis Ford Coppola's first original screenplay since "The Conversation", and reputed to be his most personal film yet, arising from memories and emotions from his early life, although totally fictional.

The bittersweet story centres around the story of two brothers, of family lost and found and the conflicts and secrets within a highly creative Argentine-Italian family.

Watch director Francis Ford Coppola explain the film's setting whilst on location below.

Alden Ehrenreich stars as Bennie who arrives in Buenos Aires in search of his older brother who has been missing for a decade and swore never to see his family again. Vincent Gallo (featured above) plays the melancholy but brilliant writer and Bennie's brother "Tetro".

Maribel Verdu stars as Miranda, Tetro's girlfriend.
