Meet the bloggers: Show me your wardrobe
Vogue have termed it their 'favourite fashion blog', Vanity Fair, 'a brilliant site' and Elle U.K is 'totally addicted' - as are we. Show Me Your Wardrobe describes its content as a sneaky peek into the wardobes of today's creative talent, and believe us; it does what it says on its bookmark.
Without the fear of feeling like a stalker you can browse the cool kids' wardrobes from the comfort of your laptop, safe in the knowledge you won't feel a nerd. Swide catches up with it's authout and Queen of wardrobe snooping, Jackie Dixon.
LIFE PRE-BLOG
Can’t remember, doesn’t count. What life? Life only gets better when you start blogging…but apparently I was a fashion assistant on Vogue for three years, then a fashion editor on ELLE, then a contributing fashion editor on In Style…

HOW DID THE IDEA FOR YOUR BLOG START?
Divine inspiration and pure greed. Everyone else had a blog, ergo I wanted one.
Then it was just a question of pinning down an idea; should I take pictures of myself in endless amounts of Alexander Wang and my latest fash-wan purchases? Err, no. I’d get 3 hits a day. Should I set up yet another street style blog? Definitely not; there are so many brilliant ones in existence already, why add to the masses. What about a written blog? I’m far too sarcastic and have lost friends due to my “acerbic wit” which apparently doesn’t work too well in emails…let alone on a blog. So there you have it; I had to do Show Me Your Wardrobe as it’s the perfect combination of fashion, photography and pure unadulterated voyeurism.

ONLINE IS A WAY OF LIFE – DO YOU OPT FOR A NON-WIFI SPOT IN YOUR SPARE TIME OR IS YOUR SITE ALL CONSUMING?
Spare time, what’s this ‘spare time’ thing you speak of…never heard of it.
WHO IN YOUR OPINION ROCKS THE BLOGASPHERE?
Scott Schuman (www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com) for being the blog pioneer and paving the way for the rest of us, Bryan Boy (www.bryanboy.com) for his mischievious charm; Rumi (www.fashiontoast.com) and Gala (www.am-lul.blogspot.com) for their beauty and style; Garance (www.garancedore.fr/en/) for her witty writing and gorgeous pictures, Bill Gentle (www.backyardbill.com) and Matthew Eades (www.mattheweadeslondon.com) for their beautiful (but very different) pictures and….I could go on here for a while….Tavi (www.tavi-thenewgirlintown.blogspot.com), Tommy Ton (www.jakandjil.com/blog), www.thecherryblossomgirl.com, www.mila-loveology.blogspot.com/….how many am I allowed to list?

HAVE YOU EVER BLOGGED WHEN UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND REGRETTED IT?
Does photographing someone for the blog whilst under the influence count? Then yes I’ve done that but no, never regretted it. It’s quite a pleasant way to spend an afternoon really.
STRANGEST PLACE YOU’VE PHOTOGRAPHED?
I usually go to the person’s house to photograph them as I need them to be in about 6 of their favourite outfits (ie they are showing me their wardrobe…see what I did there?) and it saves them schlepping over to my house with a suitcase full of shoes, clothes, accessories etc. So really the strangest thing isn’t where I’ve taken a photo but how intimate I get with the people I shoot. What I mean is that I am in their bedroom going through all their clothes working out which ones will make the best photo, helping them get changed, styling them up, re-arranging an errant strand of hair or pulling a cardigan into the right place etc. I guess it’s quite an up-close and personal experience as it’s entirely about the person I am photographing; their clothes, their environment, their personality. It’s all about them on the day.

WHAT POST RECEIVED THE BIGGEST NUMBER OF HITS ON YOUR SITE OR THE ONE YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL?
CLM’s exceptionally stylish producer, Rosie Vogel, took my hits through the roof; people also went crazy for Natalie Hartley (the Senior Fashion Editor of The Sunday Times Style featured above) because she went topless wearing nothing but a sarong and a pair of pink crocs and Rachel Proud (a Senior Buyer at Topshop), she wore an Ashish skeleton tracksuit that everyone seemed to fall in love with. I still get emails about it today and I shot her over 6 months ago.

IS THERE A PERSON YOU’D WISH WOULD START A BLOG?
Suri Cruise
HOW DO YOU SEE TWITTER IMPACTING ON BLOGGING?
It seems to go hand in hand for some but personally, I can’t seem to get the hang of it. I see others tweeting about all sorts of things but for whatever reason I’m not that into it. I occasionally announce that there is a new post up on my blog but other than that I haven’t really found the correct voice for ShowMeYourWardrobe on Twitter (Jackie Dixon is most definitely not allowed a twitter account, she’d get into far too much trouble). My blog is all about pictures - and not words - so for me it’s not really applicable, but I can see how it can work really well for others. I always see twitter feeds on people’s blogs and enjoy reading (some of) them. Of course it depends how interesting your day-to-day activities are…

FOR ANY BUDDING BLOGGERS – WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE ON MAKING IT WORK?
Don’t do it. Leave it to me, I don’t need the competition…
