Malcolm McLaren scares Berlin for halloween
Shallow us?
We immediately hit art on our blackberry when we heard this word bandied about (touchy subject, okay?) to find out what's going on outside our usual world of shopping.
What we've discovered is a private view for Malcolm McClaren's new exhibition that should fittingly open its doors on October 31st and gives us the perfect exuse to hit Berlin in the name of culture (or what we'll tell anyone who'll listen...).
With a reputation for scaring the establishment, now it's Berlin's time to exorcise their old art. From November 1st until December 13th at Berlin's Scheibler Mitte gallery, McClaren's work Shallow 1-21 will be exhibited in Germany for the first time. The work forms the centerpiece of a unique group show that features artists that include Damien Hirst, Michael Queenland, Rodney Graham, and Wolfgang Flad who exhibit works around the theme of musical paintings.
Malcolm McLarenʼs multimedia work Shallow 1-21 consists of 21 film erotic clips sourced from obscure movies from the 1960s and 1970s set to music, and slowed down cut in unusual ways - the clips take on new life that alternates between lust and panic, surprise and smugness, aggression and lust.
We're off to visit as soon as we've finished reading Vogue...
