Jean Nouvel a first in the UK

Posted Jul 14, 2010

The Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2010 in London, is designed by the renowned French architect Jean Nouvel.

The conceptual rigour of Jean Nouvel is featured at the 10th Serpentine Pavilion, the annual part of a unique project in which a new architect is invited each year to experiment and show his work in Britain for the first time.

Jean Nouvel is one of the greatest contemporary architects, his Ateliers Jean Nouvel is one of the largest architectural practices in France. To those who know his work, it goes without saying that everything he does is permeated by music, literature and the moving image.

Nouvel’s building is a hymn to England, a vivid red building that recalls the English phone booths or buses, displayed through bold geometric forms and a versatile system playing with the interior and exterior, the ideal setting for the Park Nights and Marathon organised by the Gallery.

To launch in grand style this July will see an installation by Christian Boltanski, The Heart Archive, collecting the heartbeat of the visitors with a special designed booth.
