Cannes Preview: Taking Woodstock

Posted May 15, 2009

Continuing our Cannes film festival series, Swide brings you a daily look at the rumoured Palme d'Or contenders. Next up in the Swide series is Ang Lee's (Brokeback Mountain & Crouching Tiger) new comedy.

Based on a true story, the film tells the innocent story of a man working at his parents' motel in the Catskills who inadvertently sets in motion the generation-defining concert in the summer of 1969.

The film stars Emile Hirsch, Liev Schreiber, Demetri Martin, and Imelda Staunton amongst others. It will hit theatres on August 14th, just one day before the 40th anniversary of the first day of the Woodstock festival, which began on August 15th, 1969.

Take a peek at the official trailer below.
