Banksy takes grafitti to Timbuktu

Posted Oct 5, 2009

The unidentified British street artist that is Banksy has just updated his site with his latest works from Africa. Swide takes a peek at his new work with an African theme.

If you tired of seeing Angelina Jolie and other A-listers weeping in Africa, perhaps Banksy's latest work will allow for critical comment on the region, that doesn't involve publicists and charity records.

Although artist Banksy has said to have been globe trotting for years, (you can find his graffiti all over the world, America, Europe, The Middle East), his latest work from Africa is powerful stuff. Drawings and photos of the anonymous street artist’s work from his exhibition “Bristol Museum vs. Banksy,” including his murals from the West African country, Mali are now featured on the artist's site.

Images including two figures hunting a large animal, a woman hanging laundry on a line while a zebra stands by, and of course the young black boy collecting money for 'it girl' Peaches Geldof somehow appear stronger with a West African backdrop. We can't wait to find out where's next on his art map.
