Swide's tips on how to have your tablet or smartphone plan your holiday for you: from an app that tracks top tips to one that knows your foodie history, here are all the (cheap or free) travel apps you need to have.
Alfred
"Never miss places you'll love" it's the introduction Alfred gives. Alfred is more than just a restaurant app. You can "train" Alfred by teaching it about the places that you enjoy and feel the most at home, so that when abroad and in need of a recommendation it can match the restaurants nearby with your favourite characteristics. Using Alfred more and more will allow you, of course, to make it more personalised. Available oniPhone, iPad and Android for free.
WeatherPro
It might seem obvious, but how many of you have wanted for a weather Pro app when caught in the rain? Offering weather reports for well over two million geographical locations and detailed info like atmospheric pressure and wind speed WeatherPro is incredibly accurate so you can always trust it. Available on iPhone (2.49 euros), Android (1.99 euros) and Windows Phone (2.29 euros)
Hotel Tonight
Last minute travellers, this is your app: whether you are an adventurous traveller or simply someone stranded in the airport because of a flight delay, this app won't disappoint you. When you don't know where to stay, ask hotel tonight, which, just so you know, is good for same-day hotel bookings only, and you can't book until noon. Savings are granted, though, including the App's cost: it's free!
FlightTrack
You are just about to take your flight but you are a control freak… Do you want to find out when your loved ones are arriving at the airport so they find you there? Track international flights, view maps and check departure gates, delays and (heaven forbid) cancellations.
Available on iPhone (2.99 euros), iPad (2.99 euros), Android (2.99 euros) and Windows Phone (3.99 euros)
Tipulator
It is only for IPhone users but it's worth mentioning because it is one worry-free tool the world has been waiting for. The Tipulator helps you with the tip traditions all over the world and mathematically splits bills and tips. Available on iPhone (0.69).
