Over the next few months, Luxury London will be bringing you a mini-series and presenting a personal London guide that can be referenced any time you visit this wondrous city.
We Brits are known for our prudent and reserved nature in comparison to the rest of Europe, but that is our ‘poker’ face not the reality. As I embarked on my ‘research’ this became more and more apparent.
Here are some of the finest places for lovers to visit, to embrace discretion, freedom and imagination in the bedroom - cue the Barry White music…
Coco de Mer
Is a very welcoming, impressive one-stop luxury adult emporium based in Covent Garden that’s a big hit with the A-list. As well as beautiful lingerie, they sell everything from home wares, books, art and toys - not of the Barbie or Ben 10 kind! Whilst there, I saw an interesting salt & pepper shaker, gift box sets for him and her and even wallpaper! They also periodically run Coco de Mer Salons on ‘Lessons in Love’ to educate and promote openness. Their large selection of educational, fiction and rare books are a great pre-cursor to the main event. The Swarovski crystal ‘merkin’ body embellishment is on my wishlist for sure.

Rachel Vosper
This charming boutique is located on a quintessential London street in Belgravia. This high-end bespoke candle chandler has a veritable who’s who client list that includes US Presidents! All the candles are handmade on-site in the workshop, depending on the time you visit you can see the chandlers in action. I was advised that Tuberose and Neroli are key scents from their fragrance library that add rich romance and playfulness to any occasion. You can pick up some delectable candles or book yourselves onto a 2hr course and make your own. Scented candles are integral in evoking the senses and enhancing our mood. I left feeling totally relaxed and uplifted.

Dolci Follie
Lingerie doesn’t get more exquisite than at this light and airy Notting Hill boutique that’s in the style of a Venetian Palazzo. I was greeted with the choice of an expresso or a glass of Prosecco. The owner Simona sources superior high-end pieces from all over the world that make you feel beautiful, desirable and therefore extremely confident. Ladies, if your lover/boyfriend/husband doesn’t appreciate these gorgeous creations, who cares as long as you feel good and look amazing that’s all that matters. Their Folies de Renaud ‘tassel’ nightdress is a must-own piece. The self-esteem boost that comes with fine lingerie is unbeatable. The service was too.

Myla
Has concessions in Harrods and Selfridges but I went along to the Old Bond Street store and was mesmorised the moment I walked in. Their lingerie is presented in a stylish, sensual and upmarket way. Myla has a diverse product range from basques to bridal lingerie and some really practical, useful accessories. I fell in love with the ‘Jean’ playsuit and ‘Nicole’ basque. Kate Moss, Beyoncé, Scarlet Johansson and Kylie are fans of Myla and it’s easy to see why. It was a delightful and an extremely gratifying experience, I didn’t want to leave. One of their aims is to ‘empower women in the boardroom and the bedroom’ – and they do just that.

Melt
Melt are award winning chocolatiers who label their chocolates as ‘Bold and British’. Their beautiful handmade chocolate will melt your hearts and enrich your taste buds. The choices are endless; the peanut butter and raspberry bonbons left me speechless. And the hot chocolate blocks that you melt away in hot milk - heaven on earth. Raspberry caramel hearts and coconut lollipops, need I say more – just get down to Ledbury Road or their concessions in Wholefoods and Selfridges and go get some. The chocolate is so delicious eating it alone is an act of pleasure it in itself. But we mustn’t be selfish and must remember to ‘share’ the love.

All of the above are memorable places to visit of exceptional calibre and customer service here in London, you’ll learn so much that will assist in the build up to your special, private moments.
Nowadays, everything is so rushed we often don’t take enough time to relish the true art of seduction. Make a conscious effort, and remember where you bought and experienced these tools of love and romance.
London, without question, enlivens love and animates lovers everywhere.
Welcome to Luxury London.
