What’s more Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights begin tonight, September 21, and will run until Halloween 31st October. The event come with a chilling title, ‘The Walking Dead: Dead Inside’, and takes on the form of a maze, set in the apocalyptic world seen in the seasons one and two. Seeing as this is Universal Studios we are talking about, they’ve promised that you will wish you’d never entered, making you retrace the steps of lead character Rick Grimes and feel as much fear as you would expect to in a world conveyed in the hit TV series. From the opening hospital scene, the tank that Rick hides in, the zombie found in the well and to the zombie-filled barn, those who dare to along to this event are going to be immersed in a truly apocalyptic world, complete with the smell of rotting flesh… marvelous. Check it out, here.
So, what about the return of the show October 14? It’s the zombie horror drama that has gripped the world since it literally exploded onto our screens October 31st 2010 and we’ve been hooked since. Two seasons have come and gone and, since the amazing finale of the last season, we’ve all be left wondering what’s going to happen next.
Well, fans of Robert Kirkman’s survival horror comic book series will be rewarded for their patience, as two iconic characters finally their appearance. Firstly, Michonne, know as the mysterious woman with a sword, was given her debut in The Walking Dead at the end of last season when she saved Andrea (Laurie Holden) from becoming zombie dinner. It is in the third that we will discover more about this badass lady and her sword wielding identity. It is actress Danai Gurira who is taking her career into her own hands by interpreting the role of Michonne, putting herself up for criticism form avid fans. But, seeing as they’ve provided the actress with two leashed zombies, we think that good things are to come from her.
Another character that will be joining the show is The Governor, one of the most loved characters from the comics, who will be played by David Morrissey. The Governor runs the safe haven of Woodbury, a small community that have began to rebuild life as they it knew before it all went rather wrong. As fans will know, all is not what it seems and the stability of The Governors mental state puts those around him in danger… danger that we can not wait to see play out on our screens.
So, what of the rest of the main cast? Well, those who survived the epic finale of season two will obviously be there to see the third round kick in to action. Main man, sheriff Rick Grimes, was seen laying down the law to the other survivors in the final minutes of the last season, a sign that the pressures of making all the decisions for a group of people is finally taking its toll.
As you can see from the trailer, things are about to spin further out of control, when the main group discover a high security prison unit that could be the key to their salvation. With the power down they’ve got to tread carefully as they make their way through the building, flushing out any remaining ‘walkers’. Nearby, separated survivor Andrea has been taken captive at The Governor’s new world, alongside Michonne, aware that all is not what it seems to be.
Andrea and Michonne in Woodbury
Seeing as AMC’s TV show comes straight out of a comic book, there aren’t necessarily any spoilers to shout about and, if there are any, things are being kept tightly under wraps about changes to characters and script that might happen. What we do have though are the names of the first 3 episodes:
Walk with Me
Seed is directed by Ernest Dickerson, who has worked on the show before and is trusted amongst TV due to the work his has done on shows like Law & Order, Dexter, Treme and The Wire.
And that is where we are up to. We are sure more is to come in the next few days but, for now, all we have to do is wait a few more weeks for the premiere on 14 October and the fun can start all over again.
