Selena Gomez is a pop starlet in her own right but I bet she never expected to get a shout out like the one that Nicki Minaj serves up in song ‘Beauty and the Beat’, on Justin Bieber’s highly anticipated ‘Believe’ album that’s being released next week.
Probably one of the most anticipated tracks off the album, the collaboration between the Bieber and Nicki Minaj, has already had its fair share of fake leaks on the internet but, finally, a real version of it has been flying around and we managed to listen to it. So, putting these megastars together is a pop match made in heaven and it is sure to get a release as a single for us to salivate about. There is no doubting that the Biebinator has grown up, especially when you hear the lyrics, ‘I wanna feel your body rock’, are being used with a certain lady in mind. Should Selena Gomez be worries about this? Well, no, not exactly as Nicki Minaj gives a special shout out to her. Here are her poetic words:
‘Justin Bieber, you know I’m going to hit him with the ether
Buns out, wiener, but I gotta keep an eye out for Selena’
I think you’ll agree that those lyrics are gold and, yes, she does rhyme Selena with Weiner! You got to love it when Nicki Minaj features on someone else’s record cause she says what she damn well wants.
Selena Gomez on the cover of Elle US, wearing Dolce&Gabbana
Well, Selena has nothing to worry about, if her recent photoshoot for Elle US is anything to go by. For the July edition of the magazine, Gomez hits the cover, dolled up in a Dolce&Gabbana black mesh corset dress, complete with golden flowers and jewels. You can’t deny that Selena looks like super sexy and she even told People magazine that the shoot ‘was very classy’. Here, at Swide, we completely agree with her; She looks stunning.
Not only is she looking rather lovely and nothing like a wiener, she is also looking forward. She’s already set fame friend Taylor Swift in her sights and would love to work with her for her new album, also claiming that she would love to work with producers who probably wouldn’t want her to do their songs. I like her thinking but I don’t quite understand where she will find the time to do so seeing as the rest of 2012 and most of 2013 will be focussed on her film career, a highlight being her part in ‘Aftershock’; a film written by Eli Roth, who brought us ‘Hostel’ (2005) and ‘Cabin Fever’ (2002), set in post earthquake ravaged Chile.
So, it’s right that Nicki Minaj keeps an eye trained on Selena but not because she might get caught out, no, but because she might get left behind.
