Selena Gomez is having a moment. A transitional moment, turning from a child star into a young adult full of ambition. She’s a busy girl, too, juggling a career of an actress, dating one of the most sought after guys in pop and dealing with death threats.
Her career is about to step up a notch with the release of Spring Breakers, seeing the Disney star break out of her good girl role and hit the road in a tale of displaced youth looking for a good time. Her reputation is being put at risk as he current film role choices are letting her explore new territories but she isn’t moving away from her younger fans yet, no.
This year sees the release of three extreme examples of Gomez’s acting skills, the aforementioned Spring Breakers, which sees her as one of four girls who end up doing dirty work for a drugs and arms dealer, then there is animation Hotel Transylvania that sees her star as the voice of Dracula’s daughter, and last but not least, a horror film Aftershock alongside modern horror god Eli Roth. So, a sexy film, a family film and a slasher film. Not bad for the end of 2012.
But people are saying is she going off the rails?

No, we don’t think so. Do not fear. Her boyfriend Justin Bieber is still keeping her on her toes and she was recently seen arriving for a daytime date with him.
Also, if her appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show is anything to go by, I’d say that she’s still as sweet as when we first got introduced to her… if not slightly scared… clearly she isn’t included in what she said during an interview; ‘It's hard to scare kids now. It really is. Going to haunted houses, watching scary movies - it's hard to actually scare them. If you notice, even our human character in the movie doesn't get scared.’ That girl was frightened for her life.
Bless her.
