Well, this isn’t actually true but the Oscar-Winning star told Marie Claire UK that people are often mistaken that she has the patience of a Saint, and that she, Rachel Weisz, does have a thorny side. Yes, Swide also found this hard to believe, especially when she is looking so lovely.
Sometimes the adjective ‘lovely’ can sound empty but, here, it is the best way to sum up the look of the magnificent Rachel Weisz whose chameleon like ways have never failed to impress us. Her style is as diverse as her acting skills and her look is a timeless as the pieces that she wears. Rachel always manages to get it right and has never (to my knowledge) made it to those ghastly ‘What were you thinking?’ pages in gossip magazines.
No, she is far too lovely for that and we were left unsettled (how dramatic of us), when we found out that Weisz had been axed from Terrence Malick’s latest effort , since the mesmerizing ‘Tree of Life’, ‘To the Wonder’…

Malick is famous for both his last minute edits but also for the notorious love/hate relationship that the film worlds have with him. People find his approach to the camera to be conceited and somewhat contentious, and it is easy to understand why. ‘To the Wonder’ stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and, opening the film, Olga Kurylenko, whose opening words reportedly received both cheers and boos from the audience at the Venice Film Festival. See, what did I say, love/hate. But, it seems that Rachel Weisz have risen above all this bother and seen the positive side of things, saying, ‘I had the experience of working with him, but I will not have the pleasure of seeing my work’. Bittersweet, no?
Rachel joins the list of celebrated actors that have suffered the same fate; Gary Oldman, Martin Sheen and Viggo Mortensen were cut from War flick, ‘The Thin Red Line’ were completely removed and the role of Adrien Brody was edited from being a lead character to a mere bit part.
Having said all of this, Terrence still manages to deliver something rather spectacular and, so far, there have been very positive reviews of ‘To the Wonder’ and we, at Swide, can’t wait for it to hit cinemas.
Rachel Weisz is currently starring in ‘The Bourne Legacy’, alongside Jeremy Renner, and is set to star as Evanora in Sam Raimi’s prequel to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’, which features an all star cast and is set for release sometime in 2013.
