As we are all well aware, Twilight’s saga continues this month with the release of ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’, which means that (for the 5th  year running) the streets will soon be filled with the screams of girls (and guys) fighting over which team they play for. No, I am not talking about sexual preference here; I am talking about whether it is Pattinson or Lautner who will be stealing our hearts all over again. Robert Pattinson received Swide’s critique and so it is only fair that we give Taylor the opportunity to sway your vote. 

This week we trekked through Taylor Lautner’s history to tell you why this young man should get your vote.

Training:

This guy has done it all; American football, baseball, acting, hip-hop dance and, of course, karate. Overall, when these skills are grouped together, it is apparent that we have a multi-talented chap on our hands and a one who can protect as well. His martial art skills have influenced his choose of films roles, which have ranged between Children’s adventure ‘Sharkboy and Lavagirl’ to recent cinema action flick ‘Abduction’, and have also come in handy for his Werewolf alter ego, presenting one of the reasons fans find it difficult to make firm decision. His skills have also won Taylor an array of awards, which I will touch upon in my next reason for why Lautner should get your vote. Oh, and this heartthrob may have bulked up for his Twilight role but is impressively agile and can do a back flip. Impressed? I am. Enough said.

Awards and Achievements:

Anyone who has won an award for Best Smile is set to get more awards for their looks and Lautner is one of the lucky few to get given this award. Yes, the award was presented to him during his school years but if you take a look at any photo of this young star, you can see that his smile is still of top quality and an important attribute as to why he deserves your vote. Since then, the awards have grown in terms of accolade and stretch beyond those of aesthetic value, incorporating his acting skills amongst other things. To date, Taylor has been noted as an important element to the success of the on-screen adaptation of Twilight due to his rather memerising body and the dedication and hardwork that the actor puts into maintaining his finely tuned abs. Dedicated and hardworking… another reason as to why!

Style:

The young Hollywood hottie isn’t shy to wearing the odd suit or two, and we have seen his wardrobe flit between MTV Award casual looks to the suited and booted sophistication of redcarpets. Swide commented on Pattison’s tendency towards the open buttoned look when on the redcarpet, whereas Taylor is more frequently spotted wearing a classic tie with his suits, adding a sense of youthful professionalism to his choice of style. 

Spontaneity:

A 5 yearlong Hollywood crush can get quite stale, but can be easily reinvigorated by simply doing something that could be seen as unexpected, and Lautner has done just that. As mentioned above, he has carved himself out to be quite the action flick hero and an effective love-pained teenager, well now we are going to get the opportunity to see take on a whole new role. The American has joined up with Oscar winning director, Gus Van Sant, and will become the star of a low budget Indie flick. A wise move? Who knows, but it definitely keeps us guessing as to what he’ll do next.

Grounded:

Many songs that have hit the charts of recent years have been about how those who are singing them haven’t let fame change them, and Taylor Lautner is a self-proclaimed example of this. He was quoted saying, "The thing I love is that my home life hasn't changed. I still help out with the garbage. I still help out with the lawn”. Not only does this have an element of ‘cuteness’ to it that will make mothers and other doting females go ‘awww’, but it also tells us that, when in his presence, you wouldn’t have to wrestle with more than one ego. Box - ticked.

And there we have it, the five reasons why Taylor Lautner deserves your vote in the much-debated argument as to who Twilight’s true champion really is.
