Swide’s exclusive interview with Academy-Award winner Helen Mirren, who tells us about her private persona, her career, feminism and her love for Italy and fashion.
Helen Mirren is a worldwide known actress but hasn't lost her humility. She has a contagious smile and the manner of someone who could really be a queen: Helen Mirren, Academy Award winner in 2007 as female lead in ‘The Queen’, is gentle, beautiful and radiant in her Dolce&Gabbana ensemble, sitting calm as if the chaos of the VIP lounge at Metropol didn’t exist. You can tell by the way she talks and moves that she is very used to photographers, flashes and interviews, but she stays engaged with each one of them, replying looking straight in the eyes, honestly and firmly like she always has, since the beginning of her career (one of the reasons why she became a feminist icon was the straight-forward, self-confident way she used to reply to inappropriate questions of male interviewers). In an exclusive interview for Swide she reveals her thoughts about her career, her private persona and her marriage, but also about her love for Italy and fashion, so perfectly represented by Dolce&Gabbana. The next project of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winner is the movie “Hitchcock”, to be released in 2013, in which she plays Alfred Hitchcock wife, Alma Reville.
