During the world famous New York Tribeca Film Festival, the French fashion house Chanel throws its customary dinner party to entertain all the fashionable people who have flocked to the De Niro run film festival.
Giovanna Battaglia brings Sicilian Baroque to Chanel
Amongst the usual Chanel clad suspects, Giovanna Battaglia stood out in a silk modal angel print dress from the Fall Winter 2013 Dolce&Gabbana collection.
The dark background, sombre coloured nature morte flowers and the typically baroque cherub of the dress, teamed with floral tapestry inspired boots all contrast the ambiance. The clean lines of the industrial chic areas of the Tribeca district are in a way a contrast to the flowing lines of Chanel, and the baroque curves introduced by Dolce&Gabbana for the FW13 season.
Tribeca is generally considered an intellectually hip district in New York, where the aesthetics, trends, architecture and style are almost exaggeratedly contemporary. In this environment, Giovanna Battaglia’s baroque inspired outfit stood out, but in a positive way, the two: Tribeca and Dolce&Gabbana emphasized each other’s differences and as well as their positives.
