Felicity Jones prepares to be invisible

Her big-screen break came last year in Drake Doremus’ ‘Like Crazy’, then fashion designers got their mitts on her, turning the actress into the face of various collections. Now? Well, Felicity Jones has decided that it is time for her to be invisible.

Well, ok you got me. She isn’t going all Harry Potter on us or anything, no, she is in fact getting ready for her role actor/director Ralph Fiennes’ ‘The Invisible Woman’.

On set as Nelly Turnan in The Invisible Woman

Felicity Jones has been tipped as the hot new talent for quite a few years now and the buzz around the actress is still mounting up. ‘Like Crazy’ became an indie hit, catching the imagination of those who have experienced sad love and the complications of long distance international relationships. Since then, she took on more contemporary roles, including one in funny man Ricky Gervais’ ‘Cemetery Junction’. Well, it seems that she is going to be addressing familiar themes again, approaching the subject of love in Ralph Fiennes’ new film, his second time behind the camera, ‘The Invisible Woman’.  The film follows the story of Charles Dickens’ secret mistress, Nelly Turnan (Jones) and the effect that the affair had upon the woman. The tale is an adaptation by author Claire Tomanlin and recounts the story between Dickens, who was 45 at the time, and Ternan, a mere 18 year old, and their travels together before his death.

Sadly, this feature isn’t going to be out until 2013 and we don’t have a vague date as to when, either. What we do have, though, to help us bridge the gap is ‘Hysteria’, a film that divulges on the history of the female orgasm and the electric vibrator. The story is actually based on truth and sheds light on how the invention of the vibrator was done for medical purposes in a bid to help ease women of, what was known as, ‘hysteria’, which was cured via a touch of manual stimulation. Hugh Dancy plays a young doctor who, surprisingly, finds the labour of inducing female orgasms, known then as paroxysm, rather tiring and, so, comes up with idea of the electric vibrator. Et Voila, Felicity Jones found the idea too good to pass on. It is currently doing the rounds and so you should try and get your hands on a copy to watch ASAP.

The rumour mill has also been turning and fans have been campaigning to get the starlet the lead role film adaptation of the notoriously dumb love epic that is ’50 Shade of Grey’ as Anastasia Steele. The reason that fans are so sure that Jones is perfect for the role is down to her sweet innocent wide eyed look that is easily transformed into classic sexiness with little effort, a quality that Steele possesses. But what do you think? Other names have been put forward but, so far, the rumours around Felicity landing it are being hyped.
