You might have noticed a veiled figure, something between a Sicilian widow, a Spanish flamenco dancer, and well, a woman covered in an abaya floating between one show and the other at the world’s most important fashion weeks and wondered: Who is she?
Diane Pernet has had a colourful life, equally divided between fashion and film. She had her own fashion label and at the same time also acted in movies with Roman Polansky and Robert Altman.
Later in life Diane moved onto journalism, and now she has encountered a huge success with her blog, A Shaded View on Fashion. Subsequently she united her two loves: fashion and film, in A Shaded View on Fashion Film (ASVOFF), a project where she supports and showcases films about fashion.
ASVOFF has reached its 5 years anniversary, and to celebrate the occasion a special festival is being held in Paris, (Diane’s current home) from the 9th to the 11th November at the Centre Pompidou.
Over 500 films from 50 countries have been submitted for this edition, and film greats like Sophia Coppola, will join forces with the fashion zeitgeist; fashion companies, journalists and muses alike for what is set to be a very special anniversary three day bash!
