Following her break up with Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfield has moved onto bigger, and maybe better things. As well as styling a number of advertising campaigns and launching a capsule makeup collection with MAC, Roitfeld is launching her first solo endeavour in publishing: the CR Fashion Book.
Roitfeld’s début fashion publication will be a bi annual tome containing mainly fashion spreads. The front of book shorter pieces have been “relegated” to the online version of the magazine. The book, as its more that than a magazine is published under the umbrella publishing house Fashion Media Group LLC home of Visionaire, V, and V Man, as well as the CR Fashion Book. Founder Stephen Gan, editor in chief of V and creative director at Harper’s Bazaar, is supporting Roitfeld in this innovative project.

Everything about the book is unusual, from the advertisement packages and set up (in alphabetical order, and not by price of page), and if the launch party is anything to go by, the CR Fashion Book is going to be a sure success.

With a plethora of fashion giants in attendance, the Mercedes Benz sponsored event at the Frick Museum on the Upper East Side on Saturday looked like a who-s who of fashion, yesterday and tomorrow’s. The dress code was strictly black tie, with an imposition of floor length gowns by Roitfeld for a chic yet “démodé” look (her words, not mine).
The
theme of the first issue is "Rebirth".
The fashion set sipped champagne while enjoying a piano concerto by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and then danced the night away to the beats of DJ Nick Cohen. The usual suspects were all present, from Giovanna Battaglia, Roitfeld’s son Vladimir’s girlfriend to Anna Dello Russo, who just launched a capsule collection of accessories with H&M, Andrè Leon Talley and a notable collection of super models. New mother and something of an inspiration for the debut issue of the CR Fashion Book, Julia Restoin Roitfield looked gorgeous in a Dolce&Gabbana tulle gown.

the CR Fashion Book Launch Party.
Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Bar Rafaeli, Isabeli Fontana, Alessandra Ambrosio and cover girl Kate Upton were all there. Michael Avendon, the great Richard’s grandson and photographer of the cover shoot was the toast of the party, as well as fashion favourite Bruce Weber.
