Carine Roitfeld is an inspiration and role model for all of us fashion obsessed people. She became top dog at one of the most influential fashion publications in the world, Vogue Paris in 2001 and maintained the tenure for 10 years. She revolutionized the glossy, without diluting the image. Her dear friend Mario Testino originally sponsored Carine’s talent, and she has grown into a trusted fashion pundit, advising the likes of Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld. As sort of Queen Midas of fashion, everything Carine touches turns to gold. Will it be the same for the upcoming project the CR Fashion book?

Here at Swide we can’t wait to get our hands on it. And just three weeks before the launch, here’s what we know.

The CR Fashion book will be a glossy fashion bible, published by Fashion Media Group LLC, the company behind Visionaire.

The first issue is slated for September 2012, and it will be a biannual publication.

The offices will be based in new East Village outpost of The Standard hotel. (Stalking opportunity)

The full name is CR Fashion Book, after Roitfeld’s initials. “CR” will appear “handwritten” on the front cover as well as at the tops of pages, like stationary.

Each issue will have a theme.

The magazine will only feature spreads and feature articles.

Some articles will be published in the native language of the journalist, with English translations. Très international.

Carine’s dear friend Testino won’t be shooting for the magazine, due to his exclusivity contracts with other magazines- but contracts aren’t infinite…

CR Fashion Book is also partly digital, it wil have some frequently updated shorter features on the website.  The digital subscription wil be  $5, while for the book $20. To subscribe and pre order visit the site CRfashionbook.com

The first image available consists in a spread features model Juliet Ingleby dramatically enveloped in a billowing lavender veil and little else, walking through a cemetery trailed by a trio of black-clad attendants. Shot by Sebastian Faena and styled by Roitfeld, the image appears as an animated GIF on CRfashionbook.com, with the veil moving in the breeze.

There will be a launch party for CR Fashion Book during fashion week- the must go to event of the NY social and fashion scene methinks. Can we pre order an invitation too on the site?
