Ashley Cole looks like coolness personified as he stepped out in a Dolce&Gabbana T-shirt, leather jacket and sneakers in London. And why wouldn’t he? Caretaker England Manager Stuart Pearce has described him as the best left-back to ever play for England.

Cole’s consistent good form has been a leading light both for England and Chelsea. With his lung-busting athleticism, ability to read the game and his commitment, it will no doubt ensure he’ll be one of the first names pencilled onto the team sheet for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

"He is an outstanding talent," Pearce said. "I have a great deal of respect for him because the fact I played left-back means I understand the position. He is the best left-back that has ever played for England. That is a fact. It is very difficult to maintain form over decades. You have ups and downs," he said.

"He has consistently been a fantastic member of this squad and hopefully that continues for a long time to come."
