It’s THAT time of year again. You know New Year’s and that means resolutions. Honestly, I don’t know why we bother, why spoil the best time of the year with what is essentially the worst ‘to do’ list ever.
We know we’re all going to be busy next year without the added pressure of giving up sweets or starting early morning jogging, or forcing yourself to learn Swahili. And it’s not just mere mortals who compile a list of potential headaches for year ahead. The celebrities do it too. Somehow, though that doesn’t surprise me, you don’t get to the top of your game without raw ambition and the ability to plan ahead. Maybe we can take a leaf out of the celebrities’ books?
We asked some of our favourite celebs on Swide this year to have a look at the year gone buy and tell us something abut their plans for the future. We condensed our interest into two questions:
If you could save just one moment from 2011 what would it be?
Can you tell us your New Year’s Resolutions?
BIANCA BALTI
Best moment: When my daughter said that me and my boyfriend are "her favourite family". Being separated from her daddy, it means the world to me knowing that she's happy with the new situation.
New Year’s resolutions: To make a better selection of the people around me. Last year I thought I could trust people who turned out to be evil and envious. Better to have no friends than bad ones…
EVA HERZIGOVA
Best moment: When Philip was born! I had the most amazing birth. I had a hard time first time around so I was a bit scared for the second one. But I had the best experience thanks to my fantastic doctor in London and all the preparation for such an important moment I've done with my acupuncturist prior to the delivery. I took different approach this time around. I was ready, like when you are before you take exams.
New Year’s resolutions: I usually don't bother anymore. I never stuck to the ones in the previous years.
But you know the classics like, I really have to make a photo album from all the pictures I have taken in so many years.
I really want to do my own music compilation for my Ipod.
I really should start to exercise.
I really would like to take cooking classes.
CHIARA FRANCINI
Best moment: There have been two days of special significance for me this year, both of which filled me with joy and happiness. The first was during the last Venice film Festival, when I received the Biraghi award for the “best new actress of the year”. This recognition at one of the world’s most prestigious festivals has been a major milestone in my career. The second, equally thrilling day, was when I worked side by side with Stefano and Domenico, for the Dolce&Gabbana advertising campaign. I have never felt so utterly feminine, beautiful and Italian in my whole life: a true diva.
New Year’s resolutions: They are to strive to be better, nicer, happier and just downright fabulous.
NAOMI CAMPBELL
Best moment: The moment for me would be FFR In Cannes for Japan, all of us sitting on the stage together, unified and grateful to be together in support of Japan.
New Year’s resolutions: Live everyday as if it's the last!
OLIVIA GRANT
Best moment: Midnight swimming in the balmy waters of Paxos with friends still dressed in black-tie for the distilled euphoria.
New Year’s resolutions: 'Move fast and break things': Mark Zuckerberg
GARY BARLOW
Best moment: Playing at Wembley stadium with 5 members of take that! Amazing.
New Year’s resolutions: I plan on spending a lot more time with my children this year!!!
MARY CHATERIS
Best moment: My boyfriend proposing to me.
New Year’s resolutions: Too many! Don't sweat the small stuff, be more organized and tidy, avoid being labelled "it girl" and "party girl"...start my empire.
CRAIG DAVID
Best moment: One moment I'd save was a pre dinner/drinks party I threw in my home in Miami for friends and guests before we planned to hit the town. It was special because I was in my element being back on the decks spinning the right musical selection while walking around with handheld microphone performing seeing a house full of people having the time of their lives enjoying drinks, food, great music and no one wanting to leave to hit the club come 12.30...which for me paints the image of the a perfect house party!
New Year’s resolutions: My new years resolution is to "live my life, be free...’cos I know I can have it all" (shout out to my boy Erick Morillo for that jem of a song)
JAY SEAN
Best moment: The moment I sang a Beatles song "something" live on stage with Alicia Keys at the Keep a Child Alive ball in New York. It really was an unforgettable moment in my career, not only was I one of 4 superb artists handpicked by Alicia to duet with her (usher, norah, will.I.am) we were raising money to save lives at the same time!
New Year’s resolutions: “My New Year’s resolution is to take on more than I have ever before, and make it work! Growth and expansion. This year is going to be massive!
PIXIE LOTT
Best moment: If I could save a moment it would be when I met Stevie Wonder in LA and when he collaborated on my track " Stevie On The Radio", he is so humble and full of charisma.
New Year’s resolutions: My New Year’s resolution is to learn to drive and pass my test!
