The pop star, spotted in London wearing an extravagant lace Dolce&Gabbana dress, is preparing to work with the Italian artist beloved of Miuccia Prada.

Spotted last night in London wearing formal Dolce&Gabbana lace (photo), Lady Gaga is preparing to work with one of the greatest contemporary artists, young Italian Francesco Vezzoli whose greatest admirers include Miuccia Prada. The singer will star in Vezzoli’s new, intellectually ironic offering, a sort of musical that goes by the paradoxical title “Ballet Russe Italian Style (The Shortest Musical You Will Never See Again)”.

Lady Gaga will perform alongside the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet, in one of the highly provocative pairings of opposites often used by Vezzoli, a great observer and ferocious narrator of the post-pop excess of contemporary visual culture of which Lady Gaga is perhaps one of the most striking icons today. The event will be staged on 15 November 2009 in Los Angeles on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
