Snakes have a bad reputation and can send people into shock with fright. Well, what about the world’s celebrity snakes? Surely you can’t be scared of these guys.
of the Snake; Love your sign!
This weekend, the snakes will raise their heads with pride, celebrating their animal sign as part of the Chinese New Year, and quite rightly too. If you aren’t impressed with your Chinese star sign due to western attitudes towards the animal, here is something that might make you think otherwise.
According to the stars, Snakes are a symbol of wisdom and are full of grace, know for their complexity and poise. It’s said that all you lucky Snakes out there can expect a year of steady progress and long-term success, thanks to the intelligence and problem-solving prowess that the sign is known for. Also, apart from this, Snakes are known to have the Midas touch, something that you could rings truths for the celebrity serpents out there that has gone on to big things. So who are the successful Snakes? Here’s a brief look at the last two centuries worth of snakes.
First up is Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, born 23 July 1989, who was born in the Chinese year of the Snake, a sign that was to play an important part in his future. The actor went on to speak the wizard snake language Parseltongue, allowing him to control serpents and land himself a nice bit of money in the meantime.
Similar success stories that didn’t use Parseltongue are those of country-pop singer Taylor Swift, random hip hop star come designer Kanye West and emotional soft-rock singer John Mayer. All of them slid into the public consciousness with ease and, before you knew it, you were buying their albums and humming their songs… well, it’s also said that the Snake’s mysterious and sneaky traits can uncover loopholes, which these 3 guys clearly did, creating killer hooks to keep us listening to their music for so long.
But enough of this, looking back through history there are those who have gone on to become iconic, whether its for their looks or for what they stood for as a public figure. The list even features some that came to an abrupt and tragic end. Take presidents Abraham Lincoln (February 1809) and John F. Kennedy (May 1917), who were both assassinated when, some say, both were at the top of their game, leaving behind a legacy that is still influential today.
Snakes that are still with us and casting their spell over the world are talk show, book-loving goliath Oprah Winfrey (January 1954) and household home help Martha Stewart (August 1941) who, similar to Oprah, is a smart business woman that at some point in her career has had the world eating out of her hand; a characteristic of celebrity snakes.
There are many legendary snakes out there, like the artist Picasso and Bob Dylan, influential Irish avant-garde novelist and poet James Joyce, punk fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and fashion lover/actress Sarah Jessica Parker, the adored Audrey Hepburn and one of the silver screens most iconic faces, Marlon Brando. Yes, it seems that, despite having an unfavourable reputation, Snakes have gone on to do something that has changed the lives of many, Martin Luther King, Jr is the prime example of this and his role in the advancement of civil rights.
See, taking the above into account, you have to admit that being a snake is bad at all, right? So, if you happen to have been born during the Chinese year of the Snake, hold your head high and think big.
