Helen Mirren has decided thatit’s never to late to let the little monster in you out, channeling her mischievous side into her animated counterpart for Disney Pixar’s Monster University.
Helen Mirren is a little monster!
Seeing as she is creeping ever closer to the big ‘seven – zero’ we’ve seen the star of the silver screen taking on all manner of unexpected roles but never have we seen her become a monster. Taking on the animated world of Disney Pixar, the adored English actress is to play the character Dean Hardscrabble of Monster University, on which she said;
‘It has been easy over the years to find good roles for my voice, but it has not been so easy to squash my many legs and my wings into the various costumes I have been forced to uncomfortably wear, disguising my true form. Finally I can make good use of both voice and body in a role that seems tailor-made for me—one could say monster-made. At last, the audience can experience the real Helen Mirren. Thank you Disney•Pixar and [director] Dan Scanlon.’
Here’s the voice of Dean Hardscrabble sending out a message to prospective students.
Not only will Helen be spreading her wings, as a monster this year, we will also see her reprise her Red assassin role as Victoria. Red 2 sees the motley crew of retired assassins called into action for a second time, giving Mirren the chance to play femme fatale once more.
But, to be honest, Swide are much more excited to see her as the scaly skinned Dean of Monsters University.
