The inspiration of the Dolce&Gabbana Fall Winter 2014 collection is beautifully reinterpreted in a dazzling collection of nail polishes and lipsticks dubbed as the Sicilian Jewels collection by Dolce&Gabbana Makeup.
Flashes of the golden Byzantine mosaics and the incredible jewellery that lit up the catwalk are translated into unique makeup. Though jewels are a key element in the Fall Winter 2014 collection Stefano Gabbana explains that they are a long standing element of the Dolce&Gabbana DNA.
“ I love jewels: they are symbol of power and passion. I love how they reflect the light: that’s why they have always been a part of our collections since the very beginning. We adorn with gems our accessories, our corsetry, everything like in our latest Winter collection, which is the ultimate expression of what jewellery means for us.
The Sicilian Jewels collection features four new and unique shades: amethyst, ruby, emerald and topaz. The collection is made up of a striking lips and nails palette that fuses Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s direct inspiration from the Sicilian universe and its medieval and baroque influences with more Anglo-Saxon clues. It also references the highly expressive, pigment led makeup which is the defining talent of Pat McGrath.
“Matching your lipstick to your nail lacquer is a hot makeup trend. We chose four new shades that showcase the theatrical and playful side of looking good: they are so shiny and special that they’ll be a perfect complement to any Christmas or New Year outfit. They can be worn in a young, iron interpretation or with a more grown up, sophisticated vibe, just like a piece of jewellery. “
A true jewel in itself, a Golden cylinder case with a cushion cut gem set at its head, to match the colour of the lipstick inside, a unique statement to pull out of your clutch bag to touch up your look during the evening.
