Dolce&Gabbana’s love of lace is historical, well documented and widely referenced. To celebrate the designer’s love for this most feminine and sensual of fabrics, the best selling The One perfume has been “dressed” in lace for a limited edition bottle.
The sexy yet chaste qualities of lace have been adopted by Dolce&Gabbana and over time the fabric has become synonymous with the brand’s DNA. The duality of the fabric due to its reference to underwear or virginal, bridal white exemplifies, in a way the duality in women and especially in the Dolce&Gabbana woman.
This
multi facetted aspect of the female is also represented in the advertisement
campaign. Dolce&Gabbana muse, actress, the one testimonial and a beautiful
woman herself, Scarlett Johansson is the protagonist of the campaign. Directed
by Jean Baptiste Mondino, with words scripted by
Glenn
O’Brien, the movie is reminiscent of the golden era of italian filmmaking, and
is set up in a way to look as though Scarlett, the protagonist of an iconic
movie alla Dolce Vita, is being interviewed between takes. The campaign
underlines the duality between the private and public persona of the actress. In
this case, a first for the Dolce&Gabbana Scarlett Johansson pairing the
actress speaks, with her signature sensual, husky voice. In the film, she
expresses her innermost thoughts and answers the interviewers questions
candidly.
Scarlett
herself synthesizes the essence behind the commercial and the decision to wrap
the perfume bottle in lace: “There’s a refreshing familiarity and sincerity. The
way to wear the one is as a signature scent - it creates a strong first
impression as well as delicately lingering after you’ve gone.”
Like
the woman who wears it, The One likes to change its image, and for this season,
it wears lace. Hurry up to get your bottle as The One Lace is a limited edition
and is available in boutiques worldwide (€77).
