Lace is inherently linked to Dolce&Gabbana’s DNA; the subtle sexiness of the fabric, the religious connotations, the handicrafts traditions, are all close to the heart and soul of the brand. For SS12 Dolce&Gabbana have created a make up collection that embodies all the qualities of lace.

From exquisite cocktail dresses, to tops and even blazers, Dolce&Gabbana have embraced lace and hijacked the fabric’s loaded connotations. The religious connotations attributed to lace marry the Sicilian spirit of the brand, while the sensual element of lace fall within the overarching stylistic concept of underwear as outerwear. Dolce&Gabbana in past collections have transported lace into realms not usually associated with the fabric, from lace shoes and handbags to perfume, and now make up.

The undisputed star of the Lace Collection is the new Intenseyes Mascara.

Developed in collaboration with Dolce&Gabbana Makeup Creative Advisor Pat McGrath, Intenseyes’ inky black volumising formula offers a multi-dimensional look, with a silky, luxuriant texture and flexible polymers.

Make up artists Pat McGrath chose to matched the Intenseyes mascara to a selection of sensual nude shades to complement the effect of the mascara. Nail lacquers in nude or pale pink will give a manicured finish; Sicilian lace bronzer offers a subtle luminescence and an even tone to the complexion with the lightest sweep across cheekbones and brow and for the lips there is a shimmer of lace lip gloss in neutral shades that enhances the natural sensuality of the lips.

The packaging of the Lace collection is as sensual and beautiful as the actual products. The appeal of lace is imbued onto each item housed in eminently collectible packaging, adorned in limited edition black lace to echo the fabric’s importance in the Dolce&Gabbana history.
