5 Reasons why Adele is perfect for the next James Bond theme

It’s no secret that Adele is rumoured to be the next in line to sing a James Bond theme tune. Some sources say that it has been confirmed; others say that these are not necessarily true. What will it take to convince the bug guys that Adele is perfect for the job? Here are 5 reasons why…

1. Her career is on a high note.

Adele’s album 21 rocketed the star to international star status, winning crowds over in the UK and Stateside and all that’s in between. Everyone can remember THAT moment when she performed ‘Someone Like You’ at the 2011 Brit Awards, sealing her fate as a megastar and giving Adele her first UK number one as well as in 17 different countries, remaining on the top spot for 5 weeks.  Seeing as everyone is patiently waiting to hear new material and toying with the prospect of a third album, the thought of her doing a ‘one-off’ song, while we wait for more, would not only keep us entertained, but would undoubtedly be a huge success. DO IT ADELE!

2. Adele can write a damn good tune

It’s not just her sophomore album, 21, that showcases her talent at writing a decent lyric. Adele’s debut 19 also displayed the depth and talent that this girl had and when the world got hands on her debut single Hometown Glory, which later got released as the 4th single. The power of this song’s lyrics are based on the time her mother tried to persuade her to leave her home town of West Norwood, London, for university. A subject that, in comparison to the strength and size of the song, could be seen as rather trivial but, then you think about how that song has touched her fans and how they have linked it to their own experiences, it’s beyond amazing. If that’s what she can do, then imagine what she could do with a James Bond theme tune… yes please!

3. The voice, duh!

There is no use in me going on about how amazing her vocal talents are but what makes this an important point to raise is the fact that other Bond themes have been recorded by some impressive leading ladies; Tina Turner Shirley Bassey, Nancy Sinatra, Lulu, Sheryl Crow and, a particular favourite, Tina Turner. All these women have something in common, and that is the sheer size of their voices. Adele certainly fits the bill.

4. I think she still has space for more.

I’m talking about awards, here. When she made her comeback after having microsurgery performed on her throat, Adele triumphantly made her live comeback at the 2012 Grammy Awards, where she won in all 6 categories that she was nominated in. Add this to the bags of Brits and other awards that the artist has been bestowed with; you’d be thinking that there isn’t any more room for awards. Well, she’d better make more space. Rumours have it that her pregnancy has put her in the ‘light’ mood as apposed to the love lost feelings that laced 21. With a change in sound, the mum to be is sure to bag herself more fans and, with it, more awards. Seeing as James Bond theme tunes are usually put up for awards, this would be perfectly fitting for the star.

5. But she’s a big girl blah blah blah…

To the people who still bang on about her weight:

This is old news, yes, but some people are quick to judge on looks alone and I think it’s about time that we get over this issue. Any way, as we can, the glamour factor in Adele’s appearance just keeps on getting better. Did you see her at the Grammy’s this year? Of course you did. It was impossible to ignore the success that the artist met there. And, regarding her appearance, the current look that she is channelling is perfect for a James Bond diva.

Need I say more? And that, readers, is why Adele is perfect for James Bond Skyfall’s theme tune.

To play you out; Tina Turner.
