5 Sounds for August for your Autumn playlists

Summer is coming to a close and this August has seen new music from, both, fresh artists and those that are established. Swide has been keeping their ears to the groud and has selected their favourite new tracks from the last few weeks. Including Animal Collective, Californian Wives and Egyptian Hip Hop.

Animal Collective

Ok, so these guys are clearly not new on the seen an have been giving us some of the best music you can get your hands on since 2000 and this September 3rd sees the release of their ninth album Centipede Hz and Today's Supernatural is the lastst cut to come of it. In true AC fashion, the song layers electronic sounds on top of each other, making listening difficult but ultimately rewarding. If the song isn't enough for you, the video is sure to take you on a trip.

Egyptian Hip Hop

The sounds of Egyptian Hip Hop have been getting ever bolder since they formed in 2008 in Manchester. They caused ripples of excitement in 2010 with Wild Human Child and the EP that followed. Then things seemed to go quiet, until now that is. SYH is the latest track to come out of them and it is an intelligent slice of slow burning electronic music, set against the welcome drone of synths. This track is sure to put Egyptian Hip Hop back on the map.

Californian Wives

If you feel like you've been missing the sounds of American indie rok, then you'll be glad that you've found Calirfornian Wives. With nods to early Jimmy Eat World, Foals and even The Smashing Pumpkins, their track Blood Red Youth ticks all the right boxes and could be used to soundtrack a rocked up last dance in an American film. You getting it? If you like this, you'll be pleased to know that their debut album 'Art History' is out Sept 4th.

Frightened Rabbit

This is a release that i've been looking forward to for some time now. State Hospital is the title track from the forth coming EP, and will hopefully get the attention that this four-piece Glaswegian band deserve.  They've always just missed the mark when it comes to getting into the big leagues but the State Hospital EP is going to get us all talking about them more than before.Get your ears on the latest release and fall in love.

Maya Vik

Coming from Norway, Maya Vik is bringing back some 80s styled vibes, Kylie Minogue style. This intelligent piece of pop crams a lot into just 4minutes, givi us some processed beats that Robyn would be proud of. The hook that reeled me in is the shout out loud chorus that is sure to get everyone singing together at concerts. Check it out, you might even find yourself inspired by her look... maybe not the hair, though.
