Mood Swings doesn’t want to admit it but he kind of over did it, during the SS13 men’s fashion week in Milano. In response, he’s lamenting the models, the changing city and those that are partying.
After one of the longest weekends I can remember, Fashion Week is finished. From what I can see, there are two types of people involved: those who can seamlessly transit from their normal lives to the rhythms of FW and back, and those who need to recover for a week when it's over (i.e., me). Maybe it has something to do with alcohol intake, but I'm not sure I want to dwell on this. Anyway, whether you're refreshed by the action or puffy-eyed and slurring, it's time to step back into the office. This preppy tune by Scotland's brilliant Belle & Sebastian from 2003 might help:
Belle & Sebastian Step in to my Office
Reading all the tweets from the models waving Milan goodbye really is sad - apart from the obvious aesthetic reasons for which their presence is welcome, together with all the foreigners flowing into the city they're a pleasant change to the scenery - this is a small city after all. And they just wanna have fun.
I think a melancholy tune from Röyksopp is in order. This is off their second album, 'The Understanding' (2005), one of my personal favourites.

Schools are closed, July is around the corner and very soon Milan will be left in it's eerie summer utter emptiness, with nothing moving except for the melting tar and the occasional oriental tourists (they must be stark mad). There's something beautiful about ghost towns, but we'll be glad when September comes around…and the next Fashion week with it.
