3 songs to… identify the Italian talent.

Mood Swings, AKA Andrea Ratti, is always keeping his ear close to the ground for new talent. This week he’s got 3 from his homeland of Italy for us.

In Italy there are some areas of expertise in which it seems extra-hard to be noticed, both at home and abroad: one of those is music, especially electronic and club music, which is still regarded as an inferior genre by most of the population. This is one of the main reasons for which the biggest Italian DJs and producers hardly ever work in Italy: it seems to me that the likes of Benny Benassi, Crookers, Bloody Beetroots, Congorock, Riva Starr and so on and so forth spend most of their time in the US rather than at home.

But of course there are talents that we can boast of. Here's three names from the Italian club scene that if you haven't heard yet, you probably will hear soon enough.

Fare Soldi are a duo with a great sense of humour (starting from their name, literally "to make money") and a great sense of rhythm. They state on their Facebook page that their interests are "Old vinyls with mustaches", which says a lot. They currently have published three albums and some very interesting remixes, like this one for disco-sensation Gigamesh.

The Barking Dogs are yet another duo, with the same passion for vinyls - which they can fully develop thanks to their great record shop in the centre of Milan. They have a large number of productions in their past, not to mention a tour in Japan this last summer. Their latest release 'Mamarracho/Linked In" came out last year on none other than German label Gomma; Linked In is a peculiar track that can do great things on the dancefloor if played at just the right moment.

Uabos is not a duo, although when he's behind the decks you might be led to believe he has four hands. He is one of those humble people who do their job at the best of their abilities and are amazed when they receive praise - an especially rare attribute in the DJing world.
His first EP is ready to be released, and in the meantime he has done an amazing remix of 'Winter Olympics' by Iori's Eyes, Italy's favourite underground band.

3 songs to… sink your teeth into Scandipop

This week is all about Scandinavian pop on the musical side of Swide, so there is no better occasion than this to suggest some tunes that helped bring that pop into the club world, i.e. remixes!
