The social calendar never ever stops, and this new season's first Fashion week is already upon us, clawing at every ounce of energy and sanity (already so scarce) the Milanese have. There's already a great number of people that are a lot more qualified than me to write about fashion, so this week I'm going to discuss what you're going to be dancing to this autumn.
First off, don't miss the French disco heavyweight Joakim this Friday at Tunnel club in Milan. With a background in classical music and a portfolio that counts a number of incursions in all musical genres, Joakim has been making people dance for the last 10 years, either with his own productions or through the work of his laber Tigersushi (Poni Hoax, to name but one of its artists). This is a remix he did for Discodeine, a French duo that came out with one of the best electronic albums of 2011.

Then come The Presets. The Australian duo released their new album 'Pacifica' a week ago, after dropping 'Youth in Trouble' and 'Ghosts' during the summer as singles; these two tracks are a good choice to sum up what the album is all about - the duo seems to have abandoned the gritty appeal displayed in its previous two albums in favour of a more polished sound. This doesn't mean they have forsaken their club-oriented approach, but rather they seem to have matured into a dimension that can accomodate a wider variety of ways of interpreting darkness.

Tame Impala are Australian as well (some good stuff happening down there) and are going to release their second album, 'Lonerism', at the start of October. The psychedelic rock ensemble gathered a large fanbase with their first album two years ago, and the first single off this new effort, 'Elephant', is a promise of good things to come. None other than Todd Rungren remixed into something a little more club-friendly and I suspect we'll be hearing a lot of this track for a while.
