Twin Sisters Elektra And Miranda have created something that perfectly captures the mood of a Summer’s end, using synths to create a sense of hazy warmth and fragile futures. Maybe You, received its video premiere, a video that reflects the feeling of the track in every sense.
Since their demo emerged on the internet, a couple of months ago, Saint Lou Lou’s highly anticipated Maybe You got picked up by the French record label, Kitsune, and, today, we have the pleasure of seeing the accompanying video. And, it has certainly been worth the wait; Directred by Philippe Tempelman, the black and white visuals bring as much depth and 80’s inspired imagery that the song, itself, does. The richness of the video is comparable to that of a fashion film short, and this is not far off the mark, seeing as Templeman is a fashion director himself. Lip-syncing is not on the agenda here, replaced by slow panning, strong imagery of beautiful people, burning pyres and that moment before ‘breaking point’ (a bead of water falling from an eye, a glass tumbling to the floor, a man falling into water).
All this beauty is underlined by a thread of sadness that is carried in both the music and the video, leaving the viewer with a sense of lamenting something that has passed and the uncertainty of what is to come next.
Overall, these twins are on to something good here and I have a feeling that they are going to huge.
