Milan Design Week 2012 is in full swing and so it is only fitting that our resident music man gets to grips with what is going on and gives you 3 songs to give you that much need reboot of energy for the weekend ahead. Good luck to all who are partying here in Milan this weekend, see you on the other side…
3 songs to… divulge you in design led destruction
Milan’s design week is THE event of the year: everyone talks about it, people fly in from all over the world, everybody suddenly has to rent a room for stellar prices and your smartphone’s app store has a whole new section dedicated to apps that tell where and when to go for the presentation of a beautiful new chair (read: a free glass of wine).
Alongside all the design events and parties, for the past few years there has been the Elita Festival: a music festival that takes place in many different clubs and venues all over town and gives Milan a great breath of quality international music. Make sure you check the programme; you’re bound to find an artist you love in there. I for one am sure going to see Moullinex at Tunnel this Friday…he’s Portuguese, has scores of amazing tracks and remixes under his belt and is certainly going to give a great show.
This is one of his latest releases, a cover of Mike Sembello’s dancefloor bomb ‘Maniac’ featuring none other than Peaches.

Apart from great music, there’s three things you can be sure to expect from the Design Week:
2) No taxis
The first two are evident to anyone, and the third is funny ’cause it’s true. There are whole families of Finns, Norwegian professionals and Swedish architects EVERYWHERE, mostly getting lost and scared by the traffic.
Design truly is a big thing up there, but that’s not the only thing they can boast about (obviously): their musicians, electronically speaking, are some of the best. One of them is without a doubt techno-meister Trentemøller who has just released this juicy new track:

For this week’s final track I’d like to go a little back in time and talk about The Knife – a swedish electronic duo (brother & sister) that hit the scene in 2005 and truly left a mark for their mesmerizing sound. This track was the first single off their third album (that is named Silent Shout, too).

With a whole lot of Ls releasing new music and videos this week, the likes of Lorde and Lana Del Rey have been taking over social media and England’s Leona Lewis is getting all Christmassy.
Her new 27-minute short film for Tropico is here. Once described as something concocted in David Lynch’s dreams, the femme fatale Lana Del Rey has just released her eagerly anticipated Tropico film… as well as her second album Ultraviolence for 2014.
