I first met Kylie in December of 2003. It’s been seven years now, but every time I think about it I still get the same emotions... I met her at the Rai Studios in Milan at the end of her promotional tour. Other than for her and her music, I’ve always loved her as an example to follow, that of a strong, tenacious yet also sweet and sensitive woman. I still remember how anxious I was a few minutes before she arrived. She came to the studio, and while she was getting ready for the live show, she turned to me with a sweet smile.

I had never seen her before, that smile just made me so happy! Few minutes later we had a chance to meet… Kylie is very sweet and friendly, exactly like people describe her. She was extremely nice with me, I introduced myself and complimented her for her extraordinary career. I told her I had been following her since the beginnings in 1987, that I loved her albums, her voice, and her being so approachable. I told her all my esteem and passion, showed her how supportive of her I had been through the years with the Italian official fan page www.kylieminogue.it that I had created. I showed her the projects, the site, the events organized for her. I gave her the brochure of the fan club, and she signed it. We were sitting in a small private studio for about two hourse alone. I couldn’t believe it. While speaking my thoughts were:

“Does she care about what I have to say, is she happy to meet me, what would she think of me?”

I got my answers right away. How? I only had to look at her, Kylie was smiling and listening carefully to me… and I had a lot to say! She was impressed by the website, she complimented me on the lay-out, and that was just easy for me because I am a Digital Art Director in real life. We laughed together, I would have loved to ask her to sing a duet together, there alone, just us. It would have been a dream come true! I, however, didn’t want to take advantage of the situation, so I refrained myself.

What’s so extraordinary about Kylie, other than her many other well-known qualities, is her availability, her being so famous yet so approachable, although she is an international star. After spending only a few minutes with her, you feel like you have known her all her life, not just as a singer, but as a person. I will never forget what she told me after our first meeting; taking my hand and holding it:

 

“Thank you Antonella for everything you did, you do, you will keep on doing for me! Don’t ever stop believing in what you believe, your ideas, your dreams. Don’t stop dreaming!”

She finished by saying bye to me … Before she got into the car that would take her to the airport, Kylie said “see you soon!”

Just like that… I met Kylie again twice at the Rai studios, once in Paris during a Signing session organized for her album X and the fifth time at Salsomaggiore terme for Miss Italy. Each time was like the first time. In Paris she remembered my name and thanked me for coming all the way there to see her. Whoever has the opportunity to meet her will leave with a great memory. The one that I have, combined with everything she added to my life in terms of emotions.
